HDTV Heaven vs. SDTV Hell? Detective Conan vs. Haruhi Suzumiya

So 4/4/2009 NTV in Japan rebroadcasted the first episode ( ジェットコースター殺人事件 Jet coaster murder case/Big Shrink) of Detective Conan (Case Closed), according to hdanime’s screenshot and comment, it appears to be HDTV, not some SDTV upconversion.

The introduction is 16:9 upconversion shown some aliasing stuff:

The opening and ending are completely redone with footages from the earlier episodes (mostly scenes from openings and endings of episodes 1~200). New songs are used during opening and ending.

The main feature is broadcasted in HD, black bars are added to maintain original 4:3 aspect ratio. (I made some comparison shots with my old FUNimation disc. The video quality is presumably the same as the R2J DVDs since I made some comparisons between the R1 and R2J’s episode 6, and they seem to have very subtle difference

Next up is starting from 4/1/2009, a new Japanese language digital station starts broadcasting in my area. As to hold the viewer’s attention, the station starts broadcasting The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱 in its original order one episode a day for fourteen days. No, this is not the 28 episode rumor been spreading online these days.
The broadcasting is in original Japanese language with English subtitles.

The actual video quality is really bad since the TV station has 8 sub-channels. The bitrate of the video is only 1.6Mbps with mpeg2 compression… The subtitle is straight from R1 Bandai DVD.
